Grace Period Voter Registration

The office of the County Clerk will be open every day, EXCEPT Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.for the purpose of registering voters. There can be no registration during the 28 day period preceding every election, or until the 2nd day following such election. NO person shall be entitled to be registered in and from any precinct unless such person shall by the date of the election next following have resided in the State, County and Precinct for thirty days and be otherwise qualified to vote at such election. Every applicant who shall be eighteen years of age or over on the day of the next election shall be permitted to register, if otherwise qualified. To constitute residence, a permanent abode and dwelling place within the precinct are necessary.

Each person must apply in person for registration, taking an oath or affirmation to truly answer questions concerning his qualifications and eligibility, supply the information necessary to properly fill out the registration card, and must execute the affidavit appearing on the registration card. Two forms of identification are required.

The County Clerk must be notified of any change of address of registered voters.

You may also register with deputy registrars or with city clerks in their office up to 28 days prior to the election.
