Open Position: Assistant County Engineer

Duties of the Position: 
Perform or oversee Phase I, II, and III engineering services for Ogle County Highway Department projects and Ogle County Township projects as requested. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, program development, project implementation, construction, permitting, and construction engineering for the County Highway Department. The position serves as Program Manager for the Ogle County NBIS bridge inspections and Radiation Safety Officer for the Ogle County nuclear gauges. This position directly supervises technical staff as well as provides technical assistance to Ogle County maintenance staff. Other duties as assigned by the County Engineer.

Required Experience and Education:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and shall be capable of becoming a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois, current registration is a benefit. In addition, successful candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in the construction, design, or maintenance of highways. Experience in project management and/or supervisory capacity is desired.

Open Position: Civil Engineer

Duties of the Position: 
Work activities include, but are not limited to, preparation and coordination of County maintenance program, construction inspection of same, design and preparation of County and Township construction plans, construction stakeout and inspection of County projects, and construction inspection of subdivisions.  May be required to perform bridge inspection and inventory as required by the NBIS. Other duties as assigned by the County Engineer.

Required Experience and Education:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering and have taken the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.  Must be pursuing Professional Engineer license.  In addition, successful candidates should have at least 1 summer or semester of prior experience as an intern in the engineering or surveying field.

Open Position: Civil Engineer Intern

Duties of the Position: 
Transportation engineering design and construction oversight. Duties will vary but may include field and office work to support all of the following activities: surveying, sight distance evaluations, construction observation, traffic data collection, drafting, design assistance, bridge inspection, preparing bid documents, support work on pavement preservation program and maintaining databases and Geographic Information Systems.

Required Experience and Education:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.  Must have completed at least 2 semesters toward engineering degree.
