Stillman Valley High School Vehicle Thefts

On Saturday 01/24/15 at approximately 2045 hours, Ogle County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received a report of several vehicle burglaries which occurred at the Stillman Valley High School.  A total of seven vehicles were entered by breaking windows.  The investigation determined the burglaries occurred between 1930 hours and 2045 hours.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Ogle County Sheriff’s Office at (815)732-6666 or Ogle-Lee Crime Stoppers at (888)228-4488.

DUI

On 01/25/15 at 2221 hours the OCSO responded to the area of N. RT. 26 and Haldane Rd in reference to a one vehicle rollover with no injuries.  The driver Brett J. Hollewell, 24 of Oregon, was arrested for DUI, DWLR, Broken seal, No Insurance, and Failing to Reduce to Avoid an accident.  He was taken to the Ogle County Jail in lieu of bond.

Warrant Arrest

On 1/25/15 at 1700 hours deputies responded to Golden Prairie and Misty Meadow lane in Davis Junction reference a minor 2 car accident.  After a short investigation it was learned that Joseph Swinson, 25 of Stillman Valley, had backed into John Ramsay, 56 of Davis Junction. No injuries were sustained.  Swinson was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Two Vehicle Accident

On 01/24/15 @ 1806 hours, the OCSO responded to the intersection of Rt 26 and Rt 72, commonly known as Shannon Corners in reference to a two vehicle accident.  Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that Crystal Ruter, age 34 of Shannon, had stopped to make a left turn from Rt. 72 onto Rt. 26 northbound.  She pulled into the intersection and was struck by a southbound car driven by Ellen Dieterman, age 66 of Freeport.  Dieterman’s car then caught fire.  Both drivers were taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.  The Ogle County Sheriffs Department was assisted at the scene by Pines Automotive, the Forreston Fire and Ambulance service, and the Shannon Fire Dept.  Ruter was cited for Failing to Yield after Stopping at a Stop Intersection and given a court date in Oregon.

Warrant Arrest

On 1-24-15 Ogle County Deputies arrested Danielle Bitz, 35 of Byron, on an outstanding warrant for Speeding. Bitz posted $2,000 (10%) for bond and will appear in court on 2-11-15 at 9:00 am.

Possession of Cannabis

On 1-23-15 at about 1544 hours Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Rodney W. Caspino, 26 of Sycamore, for Possession of Cannabis (Class B Misdemeanor) and Obstructing Identification (Class A Misdemeanor) after a traffic stop in the 18,000 block E. IL RT 64. Caspino was a passenger in the vehicle and also taken into custody on one outstanding Rockford PD Warrants and two outstanding Boone County warrants. The Rockford PD warrant had no bond. The driver of the vehicle, Jessica Santiago, 21 of Sycamore, was cited for Expired Registration and released. Caspino was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Warrant Arrest

On 01/22/15 Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Shawn M Ashman, age 23 of Rockford, at the Winnebago County Jail.  Ashman was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear.  He was unable to post the $1,153.77 full cash bond, and appeared in court on 01/22/15 at 1:00 PM.  Ashman’s bond was reduced to $500 full cash.  He remains in custody, and will appear in court on 01/30/15 9:00 AM.

On 01/22/15 Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Abigail L Stram, age 25 of Rockford, at the Winnebago County Jail.  Stram was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Driving Under the Influence.  She was unable to post the $25,000.00 (10%) bond, and appeared in court on 01/22/15 at 1:00 PM.  Stram’s bond remains the same, she is still in custody, and will appear in court on 01/26/15 at 1:00 PM.

On 01/22/15 Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Juan Olguin, age 32 of Rochelle, when he turned himself in to the Ogle County Jail.  Olguin was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a Park.  He was unable to post the $300,000.00 (10%) bond, and will appear in court on 01/23/15 at 1:00 PM.

On Wednesday 01/21/2015 at 0555 hours, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor trailer and a male riding a bicycle in the 4000 block of west Rt. 64, east of Mt. Morris.
The witness stated the truck driver slowed the vehicle after striking the bicyclist and then proceeded west towards Mt. Morris.  The semi was described as a tractor with a sleeper (unknown color) and with box trailer (unknown color), possibly having minor damage to the passenger side front bumper. Weather conditions may have been a factor.
The bicyclist was transported to KSB Hospital by Mt. Morris ambulance. and later transferred to a Rockford hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Warrant Arrests

On 01-21-15 Ogle County Deputies arrested Elaina J Bray, age 22 of Kingston on an outstanding  warrant  for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bray did not post the $5,000 10% bond and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Bray will appear in court on 01-22-15 at 1:00 pm.

Warrant Arrests

On 1-20-15 Ogle County Deputies arrested the following individuals on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

  • Dylan R. Forston, 32 of Sycamore, for Petition to Revoke and Failure to appear warrants. Forston did not post a total of $8,451 full cash for bond and will appear in court on 1-21-15 at 1:00 pm.
  • Logan Bell, 18 of Monroe Center, for Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Failure to Appear warrants. Bell did not post $435 full cash for bond and will appear in court on 1-26-15 at 9:00am.
  • Ashley Borgen, 19 of Byron, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Borgen did not post $7,500 (10%) for bond and will appear in court on 1-21-15 at 1:00 pm.
