Aggravated Fleeing to Elude

On August 4, 2015 at 2200 hours the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office with a pursuit of an armed robbery suspect vehicle. The suspected armed robberies occurred in Savanna, IL and Clinton, IA. shortly before the pursuit took place.  The pursuit traveled east on IL Rt. 64 and south on IL Rt. 52. At IL Rt. 52 and IL Rt. 26 Ogle County Deputies handled a non-injury accident involving Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Lanark Police squads.   The pursuit then traveled north on IL Rt. 26 to IL Rt. 64 continuing east into the City of Oregon. The pursuit ended at IL Rt. 64 and Daysville Rd. after stop sticks were deployed and the suspect vehicle collided with a Milledgeville Police squad. A foot chase ensued and taken into custody was Aaron C. Watson 25 of Rockford and a 15 year old juvenile of Rockford. The two suspects were taken into custody by the Ogle County K-9 unit.  The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office subsequently handled the accident investigation involving the suspect vehicle and the Milledgeville squad.  Aaron Watson was charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Resisting Arrest, and Driving while license suspended. Watson was also wanted on two Rockford warrants. Watson is being held at the Ogle County Jail. The 15 year old juvenile is currently being held in custody for resisting arrest and pending charges for his involvement for armed robbery and felony theft.  The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Savanna Police Department, Clinton, IA Police Department, along with Freeport Police Department for their suspected involvement with a felony theft which occurred earlier in the day.  Other police agencies who assisted with the pursuit were the City of Oregon Police Department, Mount Morris Police Department as well as the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Bicycle vs Car Accident

On 080315 at 3:49 pm Ogle County Deputies responded to a car vs bicycle accident at Mulford Rd. and Telephone Rd. Witnesses state the bicycle ridden by Logan D. Hobby age 25 of Monroe Center was executing a left turn in front of south bound traffic when it collided with a vehicle driven by Seriana V. Carpenter age 17 of Rochelle. Logan and her 1 year old son Tripp Hobby, also an occupant of the bicycle, were transported to St. Anthony Hospital by Monroe Township Ambulance for non life threatening injuries. No citations were issued.

Traffic Accident

On 08/03/2015 at 4:28 p.m. Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies and the Stillman Fire Department responded to a one vehicle rollover crash on Macklin Road just west of Stillman Road. The investigation determined that a vehicle driven by Patrick E Rhoads, 18, of Byron was eastbound on Macklin Road, drove off the roadway on the right, then on the left, and then rolled. Rhoads was taken to Swedish American Hospital with apparently minor injuries.

Driving While License Suspended

On 8/3/15 at approximately 6:40 pm, Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Freeport Road. After further investigation, Andrew Long, age 32 of Adeline, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. Long was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. Long also received citations for speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Warrant Arrests

On 08-03-15, the following individuals were arrested on outstanding Ogle County Warrants:

  • Jeffery Doyle, 48 of Kings, for Failure to Appear. Doyle was able to post $782 full cash for bond and was released with no further court date.
  • Kenneth L. Baumgardner, 27 of Franklin Grove, for Failure to Appear. Baumgardner was able to post $478 full cash for bond and was released with no further court date.
  • Alexander Belmonte, 25 of Rochelle, for Contempt of Court. Belmonte was not able to post $508 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 9-25-15 at 1:30 pm.
  • Tony Griffin, 31 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Griffin was released on a recognizance bond and has a return court date of 8-31-15 at 9:30 am.
  • Shannon Thompson, 29 of Roscoe, for Failure to Appear. Thompson was able to post $100 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 9-28-15 at 9:30 am.
  • Brittany Mohler, 26 of Rochelle, for Failure to Appear. Mohler was able to post $100 full cash for bond and was released with no further court date.
  • Timothy Smice, 44 of Oregon, for Failure to Appear and Contempt of Court. Smice was able to post $5060.54 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 9-28-15 at 9:30 am.
  • Cecil Revels, 26 of Forreston, for Failure to Appear. Revels was able to post the $3094 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 9-28-15 at 9:00 am.

Domestic Battery

On 08-02-15 at 1:00 am, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 11483 N Tower Rd for a report of a domestic disturbance. As a result of the at scene investigation, Brandi M Wilson, age 19 of Rockford was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol as a Minor and Domestic Battery. Wilson was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.

Disorderly Conduct

On 08-01-15 at approximately 11:30 pm, Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at 12336 N Meridian Road. After investigation, Deputies placed Shelby Crossen, age 50 of Rockford, under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Crossen was transported to the Ogle County jail and held in lieu of bond.

Traffic Arrest

On 08-01-15 at approximately 5:54 pm, Deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Pines and Columbian Roads. After investigation Deputies placed Andrew Swift, age 28 of Polo under arrest for No Valid Driver’s License and an Ogle County Warrant for Failure to Appear on Driving Under the Influence. Swift was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Warrant Arrests

On 08-01-15 David S Coil, age 28 of Rochelle was arrested for Failure to Appear. Coil posted the $131 Full Cash Bond and was released. No further court date needed.

Driving While License Suspended

On 08-01-15 at approximately 12:45 am, Ogle County Deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Ridge and Edgewood Roads. After investigation Deputies placed Jena Vanhorne, age 27 of Mount Morris under arrest for Driving While License Suspended. Vanhorne was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
