On Monday June 29, 2015 at approximately 3:08 pm Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies, Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department and the Rochelle Fire were dispatched to a multi vehicle accident with injuries on Interstate 39 southbound at mile marker 103, four miles north of Rochelle.
The initial investigation revealed a 2003 Kenworth semi tractor-trailer driven by Jeffrey E Straw age 55 of Wild Rose Wisconsin was traveling southbound on Interstate 39 when he struck the rear of a 2015 Volvo Semi- tractor-trailer causing both semi’s to lose control. As the two semis traveled out of control, five other vehicles became involved in the crash;

2007 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Timothy Shipley age 54 of Harvard, IL.,
2014 Mazda CX 5 driven by Della Schuck age 67 of Radisson, WI.,
2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John Allen age 58 of Fort Wayne, IN.,
2009 Toyota Camey driven by Giuseppe Paolucci age 58 of Claredon Hills, IL.
Straw was air lifted by REACT helicopter and transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Wisdon and Hogan were transported Rochelle Community Hospital for minor injuries.
The southbound lanes for Interstate 39 were closed for just over three hours. The accident remains under investigation, citations are pending.
Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police Districts 1(Sterling), 15(Oakbrook),16(Rockford) and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
