Driving While License Revoked

On 11/22/2017 at approximately 3:53 PM Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies performed a traffic stop in the 10,000 block of W. IL Rte. 72. After investigation Jessica Bursell, age 31 of Rockford was placed under arrest for Driving While License Revoked and Possession of Hypodermic Needles. Bursell was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol and operating an uninsured vehicle. Bursell was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Warrant Arrests

On 11-22-17 the following were arrested for outstanding Ogle County Warrants:

Cyrus L Williams, age 29 of Chicago for Suspended Registration. Williams was released and will appear in court on 01-29-18 at 9:00 am.

Jonathon L Chriest, age 28 of Belvidere for Failure to Appear with a bond of $838 Full Cash. Chriest remains in the Ogle County Jail and will appear in court on 11-27-17 at 1:00 pm.

Leaving the Scene

On 11/20/17 at approximately 0828 hours, Davis Junction park employees reported damage to the sign at Davis Memorial Park at 103 South Maple St. After an investigation, Laurie T. Sievert, 48, of Davis Junction, was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and was released on an I-Bond. Sievert was also cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.

Update Lost Nation Fatal Fire

At approximately 12:01 a.m. the Ogle County 911 Center received a 911 call from Ethan Shaw 17yoa, stating he was trapped in his basement bedroom, which was filling with smoke.  Dixon Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched along with mutual aid from Dixon City, Franklin Grove, Sterling, Ashton, Oregon, Polo and Mount Morris Fire Departments along with Advance Ambulance.  When first responders arrived on scene the two story residential structure was fully engulfed.  Once the fire was extinguished six victims were located in the residence, one on the second floor, four on the first floor and one in the basement.  Autopsies conducted today revealed Timothy Shaw 39yoa, Melissa Shaw 37yoa, Ethan Shaw 17yoa, LeAnne Shaw 15yoa, Hailey Shaw 12yoa, and Dylan Shaw 11yoa died from smoke inhalation.  
The initial investigation conducted by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal do not indicated any evidence of foul play; the investigation continues to determine a cause of the fire. 

Fatal House fire-Lost Nation

On Tuesday 11/21/2017 at 0001 hours, the Ogle County 911 Center received a 911 call from a resident of 204 N. Miami Dr., rural Dixon, for a report of smoke in the basement.  Dixon Rural, Dixon City, Franklin Grove, Sterling, Polo, Ashton, Oregon and Mount Morris Fire Departments along with Advance Ambulance responded to the residence.  Upon arrival fire personnel observed a fully engulfed residential structure fire. It has been determined that all six occupants of the residence perished in the fire.  Names of the victims will be released following notification of family.  The Ogle Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Fire Marshal Illinois State Police Crime Scene personnel are investigating the cause of the fire.

Warrant Arrests

On 11/20/17 the following individuals were arrested on Outstanding Ogle County warrants:

  • Eric Simpson, age 34 of Rochelle, was arrested for Failure to Appear. Simpson didn’t post $1,815 full cash and will appear in court on 11/21/17 at 1 pm.
  • Robert Winterton, age 42 of  Leaf River, for Failure to Appear. Winterton didn’t post $150 full cash for bond and will appear in court on 11/22/17 at 1 pm.
  • Evan Christo, age 20 of Stillman Valley, for Failure to Appear. Christo did post $1,521 full cash for bond and wont appear in court at a later date.

Driving While License Suspended

On 11/19/17 the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office arrested Justin Cook, age 21 of DeKalb, for Driving While License Suspended. Cook was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

Warrants

On 11-17-17 Rickey A Davis, age 27 of Rockford was arrested for Failure to Appear with a bond of $1,298 Full Cash. Davis was released on a Recognizance Bond and will appear in court on 11-22-17 at 9:00 am.

Criminal Trespass to Vehicle

On 11/14/2017 at approximately 6:49 hours, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 102 Main Street in Leaf River in reference to a stolen vehicle. With the assistance of the Winnebago Police Department, the vehicle was located in the 100 block of Clayton Ct. in Winnebago a few hours later. The offender, Donald Sutton age 46 of Leaf River, was taken into custody by the Winnebago Officer for two outstanding Ogle County warrants and relayed to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies. Sutton was additionally charged with Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle and Driving While License Suspended. Sutton was transported to the Ogle County jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

Warrant Arrest

On 11/17/17 Zachary Wilson, age 24 of Byron, was arrested for Failure to Appear. Wilson didn’t post $436 full cash for bond and will appear in court on 11/17/17 at 1 pm.
