On 8-27-15 at approximately 3:06 pm, Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in a white Nissan in the 4,000 block of S. Rte 26. The stop was initiated due to High Speed. As a result of an open air sniff from the County’s K9 unit, Brandon C. Dewaele, 25 of Dixon, was arrested for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he posted bond and will appear in Ogle County Court at a later date.
ON August 27, 2015 AT 1145 HOURS THE OGLE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, POLO POLICE DEPARTMENT, POLO FIRE DEPARTMENT, POLO AMBULANCE, AND THE MT MORRIS FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A ONE VEHICLE ROLLOVER ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES IN THE 16,000 BLK. W. IL. RT. 52 POLO. AN INTERNATIONAL BOOM TRUCK TOWING A FLAT BED TRAILER WAS EAST BOUND ON IL. RT. 52 WHEN THE TRUCK TRAILER COMBINATION DROVE OFF ONTO THE SOUTH SIDE SHOULDER. THE TRUCK TRAILER COMBINATION CAME BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY, LOSING CONTROL AND CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ROLLOVER ON THE ROADWAY. THE DRIVER TIMOTHY N. TAFT AGE 40 OF DIXON WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE TRUCK ON HIS OWN POWER. TAFT WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE SCENE TO KSB HOSPITAL BY POLO EMS WITH MINOR HEAD INJURIES.
On 8-26-15, the following individuals were arrested for outstanding Ogle County warrants:
- Chasitie Gabbard, 35 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Gabbard was not able to post $818 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 8-27-15 at 1:00 pm.
- Cory Winters, 34 of Rock Falls, for Contempt of Court. Winters was not able to post $300 full cash for bond and has a return court date of 8-27-15 at 1:00 pm.
On 08-26-15 at approximately 1:36 am, Deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Third St and East St in Leaf River. After investigation Deputies placed Angela Schwartz, age 36 of Mt Morris under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Schwartz was also issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Schwartz was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.
On 08-25-15 the following were arrested for outstanding Ogle County Warrants:
Latasha D Burgess, age 29 of Rochelle for Retail Theft. Bond of $3,000 10% was posted and Burgess was released. Burgess will appear in court on 09/18/15 at 9:00 am.
Jennifer A Copeland, age 29 of Rochelle for Failure to Appear. Copeland was released after posting $100 of the $2,876.54 Full Cash Bond. Copeland will appear in court on 08/27/15 at 9:00 am.
Rodney N Davis, age 49 of Rockford for Failure to Appear with a bond of $618 Full Cash. Davis remains in the Ogle County Jail and will appear in court on 08-26-15 at 1:00 pm.
David R Strebing, age 41 of Rockford for Failure to Appear. Strebing did not post the $2,703.77 Full Cash bond and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Strebing will appear in court on 08-26-15 at 1:00 pm.
On 08/24/2015 the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department and Franklin Grove ambulance responded to a one vehicle accident in the 400 block of West Flagg Road. Jeremy Wilson (21/Dixon) was traveling east on Flagg Road in his red Ford Mustang when a deer entered the roadway. While trying to avoid the deer, Wilson lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole. Wilson was transported to KSB Hospital for non life threatening injuries.
On 08/24/15 at 4:18 pm, Deputies and personnel from the Oregon Fire Dept responded to the 3800 block of south Watertown Road for a one vehicle roll over. It was learned that a 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Zachery Strader, 18 of Oregon was traveling north on Watertown Road when he lost control entering the west ditch causing the vehicle to overturn. Zachery and his passenger Megan Winch, 18 of Rochelle were treated and released at the scene. Zachery received citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Driving Too Fast for Conditions, No Insurance and Reckless Driving. Zachery was released at the scene after posting his driver’s license as bond and will appear in court on 09/23/15 at 9:00 am.
On 8/23/15, at approximately 1734 hours, Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the 400 block of West Pines Road. It was determined that a blue Honda driven by George Othon, 25 of St. Charles, was eastbound on Pines Road when the vehicle drove off the roadway. Othon’s vehicle then struck a utility pole before coming to rest. Othon was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Cannabis. Othon was also issued citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Othon was transported to KSB Hospital by Oregon Ambulance for treatment of apparent non-life threatening injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Oregon Police Department and Oregon Fire Department. The accident remains under investigation.
On August 23rd, 2015, at approximately 1700 hours, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Shangri-La Trailer Park in reference to a disturbance in which a female had pulled a window air conditioning unit out, damaging it, in an attempt to gain access to the residence. The homeowner, Jose Gonzalez-Salinas, had refused to let the female into the trailer. The female, Melinda J. Heaton, 30 of Rochelle, fled on foot prior to Deputies arriving. Heaton was later located in the Flagg Center area and taken into custody. Heaton was transported to the Ogle County Jail and charged with Criminal Damage to Property, a Class A misdemeanor.
On August 23rd, 2015, at approximately 1024 hours, Deputies initiated a traffic stop on I39 near mile marker 105 (Northbound). After an investigation, Amber E. Clarke, 30 of Rockford, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended. Clarke was also cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
