Memorial Day Events in Ogle County
This Memorial Day will be a special one in the City of Rochelle — our Veteran’s War Memorial will be dedicated at 11:00am at Lawnridge Cemetery, following the parade.
The parade begins at 10:00am at City Hall, heads over to Lincoln Highway, down to Lincoln Avenue to 9th Street. North on 9th Street to turn left onto 8th Avenue and finishing at Lawnridge Cemetery.
Oregon VFW Post 8739 will hold its Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 25 from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery
The parade will start at 10 a.m. with the Oregon VFW Post 8739 and American Legion Post 97, the Oregon High School Band, Brownie Scout Troop 374 and Boy Scout Troop 52.
The invocation will be given by retired general Bruce VanderKolk, and the memorial address will be given by John Tuttle, Commander and Chaplin of the 6th District and Post 8739.
The Salute to Departed Veterans will be given by the American Legion and the VFW and the bugle will be played by a member of the OHS Band.
After the ceremony, a pot luck dinner will be held at VFW Post 8739, and everyone is invited to attend.

Memorial Day Program on Campus at 10:00 a.m. Doug Wean speaking. Readings by Performing Arts Guild members. MM Fire Dept. Honor Guard. Reading of the names of the military deceased at 11:00 at the Veterans Fountain. Am. Legion Firing Squad. Mt. Morris Moose Club and Am. Legion pot luck at the Moose at 12:30. Open to all. Bring dish to pass.
