Seasonal Employment Opportunities: ROADSIDE MOWER - Seasonal Employment for the Summer months (Late-May/June/July/August). Interested candidates must be able to work outside in all summer-like weather conditions and should enjoy working with others in a crew format. Work includes mowing roadsides with heavy equipment, performing maintenance and repairs on the mowing equipment, assisting full-time employees with traffic control operations.
Position Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age by the agreed hire date.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Have ability to maintain a high level of visual attention.
Must also be able to reach, squat, kneel, bend, carry, push, pull and grip objects intermittently during the course of work.
Have ability to work in a standing or seated position for extended periods of time.
Term of Employment:
These are hourly, seasonal positions that begin as soon as school is dismissed for the Summer and ends prior to school resuming in the Fall.
Hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday with ½ hour lunch break. Minimal overtime may be required.
With these positions being seasonal, no full-time benefits are available.
Starting wage $12.00 per hour.
CIVIL ENGINEER INTERN - Seasonal Employment for the Summer months (Late-May/June/July/August). Interested candidates must be able to work outside in all summer-like weather conditions. Position Responsibilities:
The Seasonal Engineering Intern will report to the Assistant County Engineer and assist the technical staff with various project development tasks and assist with engineering support of County Highway operations.
Perform basic surveying functions using laser and GPS equipment
Assist in the collection of traffic count data
Assist with engineering field reviews for highway permits, culvert and drainage facilities, pavement condition, bridges and structures, guardrails and roadside safety items, and other roadway appurtenances
Track construction project quantities, work progress, and costs
Assist engineering and operations staff with signing and pavement marking layout, construction staking, and other tasks as assigned
Document construction activities and perform construction inspection and support tasks as assigned
Required to be able to work independently with little direct supervision
May be required to work outside of normal department work hours
Other duties as assigned
Term of Employment:
Must be 18 years old and enrolled in an accredited educational institution with an engineering major declared.
Must have a valid driver's license
